Uniforms

Uniforms/Dress Code

Students at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School wear uniforms that be ordered from Shaheens. Parents can have access to the Shaheens’ website by using the link on the SPPS website. SPPS sweatshirts are to be purchased through the school and worn over the uniform shirt. No other sweatshirt/hoodie may be worn. The following guidelines refer to grades K-8:

 

Boys

Pants must be navy with belt loops and may not be denim or top stitched.
Belts (black, navy or brown) must be worn.
White or yellow polo/ knit shirts with a Saints Peter and Paul monogram may be worn. White shirts are being phased out.  They may be worn until May 2014.   Students in 6th/7th/8th may wear a red polo/ knit shirt ordered from Shaheens.  Elementary students (K-5th) may wear green polo/ knit shirt ordered from Shaheens.
Students in 8th grade may wear a red sweatshirt with a school monogram on it.
Only navy sweaters (V-neck, crew-neck, or award style only) can be worn and must have school monograms.
Primary students (Grade K – 3) may wear navy blue suspenders.
Knee length navy walking shorts may be worn.
Shirts must be light blue with pointed collars and be made of broadcloth or oxford cloth.
Watches and religious medals/bracelets are permitted. No other jewelry is permitted for boys.
Tattoos are not permitted.
Hair should not exceed the collar length and must be worn in a style appropriate for school.
Hair must be its natural color.
Boys must wear navy or white socks; crew and tube socks are acceptable.
Sandals, backless, slip-ons and/or boots are not allowed. Acceptable styles include “docksiders,” leather oxford or tennis shoes. Tennis shoes are required for P.E. class. No street shoes or black soled/cleat type are permitted in the gym.
Shoes may not have rollers on them or lights that blink. No high-top tennis shoes may be worn.
Canvas tennis shoes must be a solid color and must be a color in the uniform plaid.
The administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of all footwear on school property.

Girls

Plaid uniforms and jumpers must be ordered from Shaheens. No other plaids are permitted. Jumper/skirt length shall be no more than two inches above the knee. (five inches from the floor when measured in a kneeling position).
Jumpers and skirts are permissible in all grades.

Pointed collars or Peter Pan collars are optional, as well as length of sleeves, but puffed sleeves are not permitted. Ruffles, lace, and contrasting stitching are not permitted.
White or yellow polo/ knit shirts with a Saints Peter and Paul monogram may be worn with shorts, slacks, skirts, or jumpers. White shirts are being phased out.  They may be worn until May 2014.   Students in 6th/7th/8th may wear a red polo/ knit shirt ordered from Shaheens.  Elementary students (K-5th) may wear green polo/ knit shirt ordered from Shaheens.
Navy sweaters are permissible. Sweaters must be cardigan or crew neck style and must have a school monogram.
School sweatshirts are also permissible. White blouse or polo shirt must be worn under the sweatshirt. No other sweatshirt/jacket may be worn in the classroom.
Students in 8th grade may wear a red sweatshirt with a school monogram on it.
Girls must wear white or navy socks/knee socks.
Blue or white leg warmer/tights may be worn in the winter months.

Hair styles should be modest and appropriate to a school uniform. Make-up, including nail polish, is not permitted. Hair must be a natural color. Hair bows must be solid in color of yellow, red, black, green, or white. A bow or headband made from uniform plaid may be worn.
The administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of all footwear worn on school property.

Exceptions

Spirit Day: School sweatshirts or school t-shirts may be worn with jeans or uniform pants on the day of the PTO meeting each month. Knee length jean walking shorts or capri jeans may be worn.
Free Dress Day or Birthday: Appropriate clothes may be worn. Clothes must fit properly and be the length of uniforms. No tank tops, muscle shirts, or sandals are to be worn.
Scout/Brownie Uniforms: These may be worn on scout/brownie meeting days.

The school reserves the right to make the final decision and to call parents for a change of clothes.
